Precision Work

November 19, 2020

Session: #36

Duration: 2 hours

Media:
Digital, Tattooing

I had an exhausting morning full of doctor’s appointments, and had to do a very, very precise tattoo as my first piece of art for the day!

Circles are incredibly difficult to tattoo, and doing six of them with matching consistencies…well…that’s a very tall order. I’m proud of how this one turned out, though!

My warmup was actually done AFTER I did my tattoo for the day. And I could tell that my brain and body were DONE with precision. This is one of the sloppiest practice pages I’ve done in a long time.

I decided to call it a day and get an early start tomorrow after the poorly executed practice page.

What went well?

  • Intense focus during a very precise tattoo.
  • Going home a little earlier today.

What needs work?

  • Managing my attention in the mornings.
  • Somehow fixing my back pain after a tattoo.

What did I learn?

Warmups need to come first. When they happen AFTER a major-focus task…they just don’t go well.

Also, if my morning gets “shot” — the rest of my day is always a little bit “off.”
