I got to draw for the biggest chunk of my work-day today, including some sketches that I didn’t get photos of. I’ll roll those into tomorrow or add them to the gallery later, but I finished up the self-portrait exercise for Lesson 10 of Drawing Foundations today! So exciting!
Today was a day of filming! Yay! I actually managed to get a good chunk of drawing time in today, but that was planned well in advance. I spent quite a bit of time on this self-portrait, and I have to say – I’m pretty stoked with the progress, though there are a few areas that I need to attempt to re-shape a bit.
I batched my drawing time in early today! It was nice to sit down and focus on ONE thing without getting distracted by everything else. Today wasn’t one of my pre-determined drawing days, but it’s one of my daily protocols, so I knocked it out early instead of cramming it into the back-end of my day.
I finally got the rest I needed! And today I had a commission to work on. Unfortunately, some more urgent projects took up a lot of my time today – namely, getting a video published to YouTube. Tomorrow I should have a lot more drawing time, but I got some drawing/lettering time in today, so I’m happy.
In an effort to provide a little bit of education, I tried to teach a little bit about gesture while I was drawing. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a very clear plan, other than “Let’s set up the camera and draw, I’ll see what I feel like talking about.”
Without a plan, I cannot teach. LoL
Yesterday I was trying to get settled in and the day before I was really unhappy with my gestures. Honestly, I was pretty unhappy with them yesterday, too. So, in order to direct my learning a little more effectively, I revisited FORCE by Mike Mattesi. I haven’t picked this book up in years, but I love his techniques and just…forgot about ’em.
Well, the tattoo studio is officially shut down due to an order from our Governor. And I’ll be working from home!
